“We love our work. We really do care about our patients and that they get the results they want to feel more like themselves again.” – Jodi and Janet, co-owners of Progressive Therapy Associates.
Progressive Therapy Associates was established to fill an unmet need in the area for speech-language pathology services, which specialize in cognition and communication. As Certified Brain Injury Specialists, our therapists all share a passion for treating how brain differences might affect how you listen, process, remember, and communicate. When we say that we love what we do; we truly mean it. We care about our patients, we celebrate their successes, and we truly feel for them when they are struggling. In short, we can’t imagine doing anything else. While creating a treatment plan with you – (notice we didn’t say FOR you) – we will customize it to suit your particular goals, preferred learning styles, and individual preferences. We realize everyone has a different vision for what they’d like to achieve through therapy, so we do whatever we can to make your vision a reality!
We are a team of speech-language pathologists who are ready to help you.

Continue readingA concussion occurs when a person receives a blow to the head. Since a concussion is a mild brain injury, it often changes the structure at the cellular level and impacts the way the brain functions.
Continue reading"When I began treatment at Progressive Therapy Associates, I was battling West Nile virus and encephalitis which caused neurological dysfunction, brain injury, fatigue, and several other symptoms. Never experiencing this before I was scared, confused, unsure if I would ever get well and didn't really understand what therapy could do to help me. From my first appointment I was treated by all staff with respect and care. My speech-language pathologist was very knowledgeable with the symptoms I was experiencing and was able to provide me a treatment plan after my evaluation. I felt hopeful for the first time in weeks. I would highly recommend Progressive Therapy Associates to anyone who is looking for knowledgeable, caring, and dedicated speech-language pathologists. I always feel like a person and not just a number or patient."
"Prior to my injury, I led a fast paced life and was considered a leader in my community. Following my injury, I found myself lacking self-confidence and the motivation for daily life. Memory loss and speed of processing has played a huge part in my life. The treatment I have received through Progressive Therapy Associates has made a world of difference in my daily life and daily functioning."
"I have had amazing results with my MS treatments. Not only has it helped with cognitive function, it has helped me cope with organizing daily tasks, using tools to reserve my energy levels, and get my confidence back with the tools I've been given to prepare for all aspects of corporate to home life. I had lost a lot of confidence in my responsibilities due to lack of word finding, keeping things organized, and learning how to focus, instead of living in a constant swirl. I am still working on shifting from one task to another and staying on task, but the with my tools I can stay focused longer and get more done."
"I had no understanding that choosing a daily routine for myself and doing it consistently reduces my mental fatigue. I thought I was being flexible when in fact I just waste precious decision-making or other internal resources that could ideally be offloaded to mindful habits. Recalibration my sense of time is actually possible. Learning to account for all the aspects of a multi-faceted event or task so that I don’t drop the ball is like putting glasses on for the first time. Without glasses, trees look like foreboding blobs of green. Without an accurate sense of time AND ability to segment a task into all its parts, life feels like a giant foreboding blob of daily overwhelm. I’m starting to unpack the challenges I face as a parent with children who have ADHD. The things that work for me can work for them too, and hopefully a lot sooner at that! As I learn to meet my own needs, they benefit vicariously."
"The therapy I have received is nothing short of life changing. I have suffered from multiple TBI’s and I come back to Progressive because I know she has the tools, dedication, and advocacy skills her patients need."
"What I find most helpful is the therapists start where you are at, building on your strengths. They help you set practical goals then together up set a plan of care moving you forward at a pace that you can feel good about yourself again. They give you the tools to work on your deficits showing your progress along the way. The organizational skills that I have learned have been critical in my job and home life. The attention to a patient’s whole life picture is priceless.”
"Receiving care at Progressive Therapy Associates was the best thing I could do for myself. As a young adult with ADHD navigating college can be stressful and overwhelming. With the help of Progressive Therapy Associates, it feels much more manageable and they give you the skills you need to be successful in academics and social life. My favorite part about being treated for my ADHD is not only do they give you the tools you need to be successful, but they empower you to use the tools to be successful on your own. Their goal isn’t to keep you coming back but to get you to a place where you no longer need them and can successfully use these skills to live a better life. It is life changing! "
"My quality of life has improved drastically. I now have executive functioning skills I never thought I could have. I thought having ADHD was a life sentence of chaos and being unorganized but Progressive Therapy Associates have shown me that I have the ability to live a more organized life.
I never would have thought speech language pathologists would be able to help me with problems related to ADHD but I am so glad I got the help when I did. If I were to change anything about my care I would have come in sooner!"
“The minute I walked into their office, I knew Progressive Therapy would be different. From the warm and friendly receptionist and the little coffee/tea bar to the welcoming, down-to-earth vibe from the therapists, the place feels anything but clinical. Don’t get me wrong: Janet and Jodi’s team have great credentials and skills, but they also are compassionate human beings. They truly care that you feel relaxed, supported and understood. At a time in life when your brain injury or neurodiversity makes it feel like you have no control, they really listen to you and let you chart the course of your treatment. No wonder they see incredible results and can sometimes help people who have slipped through the cracks in other systems or been told they would never get better.”
"I can't even put into words, how positive our experience was at Progress Therapy Associates. They have done amazing work with our son who had a severe TBI. She was a great communicator, upfront and honest and explained things in a clear and understandable language. All of us learned so much about TBI; the short and long term effects of this injury and most importantly what strategies we could use to best support our son. I would tell anyone (I have told several people) that this is the best SLP group in the city. The support we all received was second to none. He was taught strategies to manage his deficits. He was given top notch treatment that helped create new pathways, making his language system and executive function skills work more efficiently. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them. "
"I walked into their office with but one simple wish, to be able to live and be productive again. There were specific words that I envisioned that Progressive could mean for me; growing, developing, intensifying, accelerating and escalating to name a few. I was in serious need of a teacher, tutor, coach and mentor. I got this and more, they pulled back the reins when I did too much and even stood by and watched me overdo it and said I told you so. Slow and steady wins the race means I can still be a part of society and be productive and I owe all of that to Progressive. They got me back in the race and watched me walk across the finish line on my own. When I walked in their door my flame had gone out but it was the wonderful people at Progressive that helped relight my flame and for that I will be forever grateful!"
